Cam Thomas, Quentin Grimes Could Sign Qualifying Offers

NBA restricted free agency has moved slowly for Josh Giddey, Jonathan Kuminga, Cam Thomas and Quentin Grimes, with none of the four reaching deals with their current teams.

Giddey and Kuminga appear likely to let negotiations play out, while Thomas and Grimes could end up signing their qualifying offers, per Jake Fischer of Bleacher Report/The Stein Line.

A qualifying offer would keep each player under contract for one season and make them unrestricted free agents in 2026. It would also include a no-trade clause, since they would lose their Larry Bird rights if dealt.

Thomas and the Nets reportedly remain far apart on both salary and years. Brooklyn hasn’t put forward the type of offer Thomas believes he deserves, which could push him toward the one-year route.

Grimes and the 76ers appear closer to a deal, but no agreement has been finalized. Philadelphia has maintained that re-signing Grimes to a long-term contract is a top priority for the rest of the offseason, yet the qualifying offer remains a possibility if talks stall.
