When Cam Whitmore was traded to DC in the offseason, the front office took a shot at raw talent. It appears to be working out. Whitmore is a wrecking ball who can get to the rim at will and will make an ESPN-worthy dunk every game, but the talent is now translating to impact.
Cam Whitmore has excelled as a finisher in Washington. While Whitmore has a career low usage rate, on-ball percentage, and almost a career low in touches, he has had his best season yet.
Whitmore thrives when not doing too much and just making his move. He’s struggled with decisiveness throughout his career and even in the first couple of weeks of the season. Over the last two weeks, he flipped a switch.
its not a highlight dunk but this was easily the best play Cam Whitmore has made as a Wizard imo
Kyshawn finds him, not a single dribble off the catch, leverages his athleticism with a series of jab steps, attacks the paint, draws the defense then back to Kyshawn for a three

In Whitmore’s last seven games, his on-ball percentage dropped from 13.2% to 9.5%. In the same time frame, he more than doubled his points average from 6.7 to 14.3, on a true shooting percentage of 67.8%, up from 46.8% previously.
He commits fewer turnovers by not over-dribbling and makes smart enough reads to not be a ball stopper. He has also marginally improved as a defender, while being great in passing lanes, leading to those highlight dunks.
Cam Whitmore is easily having the best stretch of his season.

Cam Whitmore is quietly making his case to be a big part of the Wizards going forward. Whitmore has been a top-four young player on the team this season and is only 21 years old, with a lot more potential to develop his physical capabilities. Very few guys on the team can go and get a bucket like Whitmore can, and he’s proven to be a very capable scorer.
Whitmore found his home. Washington is a team that desperately needs more young talent. That is why Will Dawkins made the trade, and it is looking like a great one.
