The New York Knicks have one roster spot left, and there have been a few suggestions about who they could acquire before the start of the 2025-26 season. A few suggestions have involved players like Russell Westbrook, Thomas Bryant and Ben Simmons. However, the most ideal signing for the Knicks is landing veteran guard Malcolm Brogdon.

Brogdon remains unsigned and the Washington Wizards look like they have no plans to re-sign him to a new deal. Last season, the 2017 Rookie of the Year was limited to 24 games due to various injuries. This summer, his name has been tossed around as a potential veteran signing for contending teams.

Fortunately for the guard, the Knicks could be a perfect situation for him. The organization was close to contending for an NBA title last season, but the Indiana Pacers eliminated them in six games.

SNY’s David Vertsberger linked Malcolm Brogdon and the Knicks. Vertsberger believes New York could be an ideal destination for the veteran guard, who could serve as a backup point guard for next season.

“New York beefed up its guard position with the addition of Jordan Clarkson, rounding out their rotation of Jalen Brunson, Miles McBride and Tyler Kolek. Kolek looked the part as a break-glass-in-emergency point guard last season, and is in line to fill that role as the team’s fourth guard this year,” according to the NBA writer.

“If the Knicks have any reservations, signing Brogdon would be a nice insurance policy on their backcourt options. Like Simmons, he’s likely past his prime but can provide some reliable playmaking.”

Placing Brogdon in a position where he can win a title might be the secret to reviving his career, according to Vertsberger.

A Western Conference team is linked to Malcolm Brogdon

One of the teams interested in acquiring Malcolm Brogdon is the Golden State Warriors. The Western Conference team is looking to add more veteran players to their already experienced roster that features Stephen Curry, Draymond Green and Jimmy Butler.

According to NBA insider Jake Fischer, the Warriors are looking to add either Brogdon or Seth Curry.

“Another detail that I’ve learned over the last couple of days is that Malcolm Brogdon still remains a possibility for the Warriors as well, in addition to Seth Curry,” Fischer said.

However, it could take a while since the Warriors are making Jonathan Kuminga a priority. Fischer said that once Golden State have addressed the Kuminga situation, they could start making moves to sign the veteran targets who have been linked to them.

“I still think Brogdon is someone to keep an eye on for the Warriors.”
