Canada’s own Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Lu Dort are headed to the 2025 NBA Finals.

Both players led the Oklahoma City Thunder past the Minnesota Timberwolves 124–94 in Game 5 on Wednesday night to clinch the series and punch their ticket to the NBA Finals for the first time since 2012.

Gilgeous-Alexander earned the Western Conference Finals MVP after scoring 34 points, to go along with 8 assists, 7 rebounds, 2 steals and 2 blocks. Gilgeous-Alexander who’s fresh off winning the 2025 NBA MVP, will add another trophy to his collection.  The Thunder superstar exited the game with 9 minutes left in the fourth as the Thunder were in full control of this one from start to finish. They led by as many as 37 in the second half.

Meanwhile, Lu Dort did an excellent job guarding Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards. Edwards had a poor performance in Game 5, shooting just 7-for-19 from the field and he had 3 turnovers. Dort added 12 points and 4 rebounds, but his main impact was helping anchor the Thunder’s perimeter defense.

The Thunder will now await the winner of the Eastern Conference Finals between the Indiana Pacers and New York Knicks. The Pacers have a commanding 3- 1 series lead and can close out the series tonight.
