In an effort to expand the horizons of University of Louisville student-athletes, representatives from 11 different sports recently took part in a career exploration tour in Indianapolis. This initiative, organized by UofL’s Student-Athlete Development, NIL and Compliance departments, aimed to expose students to a wide range of career opportunities beyond sports.

The group had the chance to interact with professionals in the business sector at Pacers Sports & Entertainment, where they received an exclusive tour of Gainbridge Fieldhouse. They also visited adidas Indianapolis for insights into potential career paths.

Lilly Mould, a UofL Women’s Tennis student-athlete, expressed her excitement about the experience, saying, “It was really awesome to see the Indiana Pacers Arena and understand what components went into their new renovations and how they prioritized for the Indianapolis community, fans, and players.”

Track and Field athlete Brion Stephens echoed Mould’s sentiments, calling the tour a “great experience and opportunity.” He noted the abundance of interesting information they learned and how it provided them with an understanding of how behind-the-scenes actions impact their lives as athletes. Stephens also mentioned the welcoming atmosphere at the various facilities they visited, adding, “It was a great day to be a Cardinal!”

This career exploration tour not only exposed student-athletes to the inner workings of sports organizations, but it also provided them with valuable networking opportunities and real-world insights into the business side of sports. The University of Louisville’s commitment to preparing athletes for success in all aspects of life is evident through events like this.
