As of today, the New York Knicks are sitting in third place in the Eastern Conference standings. Pretty solid, right? Well, it’s not that impressive, at least according to former legends Carmelo Anthony and Tracy McGrady.
The Knicks entered the game against the Dallas Mavericks having won only two of their last 10 games. They are, without a doubt, struggling. NY is reportedly open for business ahead of the trade deadline, but what they are offering to teams isn’t enticing. So, can New York fix their problems internally? Carmelo Anthony and Tracy McGrady shared their thoughts about the Knicks’ struggles at American Express at The Half.
“JB [Jalen Brunson] trying to gather guys together. He’s trying to figure out what’s going on. This team needs to figure out what they wanna do. They don’t know who they wanna be right now,” Carmelo Anthony said.

“I’m disappointed in the Knicks, honestly…[They] are an established team that went to the Eastern Conference Finals last year. You don’t know who you are. There’s some friction in this locker room that needs to be ironed out. This can’t continue,” Tracy McGrady said.
Solid points by the former pros. With Jayson Tatum and Tyrese Haliburton out for the year, the Knicks should have grabbed the opportunity to top the East. Sadly, they’ll have a hard time doing that due to their inconsistency.
Carmelo Anthony and Tracy McGrady’s concerns should not be taken lightly. The New York Knicks are a mess despite having a capable roster on the court. Is this NY’s curse that’s happening? How can they improve their play moving forward?
With the trade deadline fast approaching, New York is looking to add point guard depth and a third-string center. Well, that’s…something.
If that’s their game plan, then Knicks fans should expect more aggressive suggestions in the future coming from Melo and T-Mac.
