Carmelo Anthony 'still up in the air' about joining Trail Blazers in Orlando

The Portland Trail Blazers are one of 22 teams invited to Orlando to resume the NBA season but at least one player on their team is still undecided if he'll join them: Carmelo Anthony. The veteran player told Ernie Johnson that he is still figuring out if he will be going to Orlando, citing the lack of specifics given by the league as a concern.

"As far as actually playing and going back down into Orlando, I'm still up in the air a little bit because we don't have all the details," Anthony said. "We don't know a lot of information. So until we have that, it's kind of hard to just commit to it 100%."

The NBA is planning to resume its season on July 30 but there are still questions regarding the timeline and actual schedule in terms of finishing out the season. Portland is one of the five Western Conference teams that are not currently set to make the playoffs but could grab the 8th seed if they play well. Since joining the team in November, Anthony has proven to be a valuable contributor for Portland, averaging 15.3 points per game.

If Anthony opts out of going to Orlando, the Trail Blazers will likely be able to add a player to replace him on the roster, as NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski says the league is planning to let teams add players if members of their roster do not choose to join the resumed season.

"Players deciding against participating in Orlando could be replaced by a substitution player," Wojnarowski tweeted. "NBA plans to allow replacements for players who test positive for COVID-19 or suffer injuries. Replaced players become ineligible for the rest of 2019-2020 season."
