After a disappointing outing during the 2025 NBA Playoffs, the Cleveland Cavaliers come into the new season with sky-high expectations.

There is no more room for error for the Cleveland Cavaliers. It is championship or bust for their core-four.

The biggest move the Cavaliers made over the offseason was acquiring Lonzo Ball. They are hoping that Ball will help lead their second unit and be a difference maker defensively.

The Cavaliers are also going to need internal growth this season from some of their younger players. This includes Evan Mobley who will be under a lot of pressure to perform at an All-NBA level this season.

Carmelo Anthony says the Cleveland Cavaliers are ‘dangerous’ if Lonzo Ball is at ’60 or 70 percent’

Lonzo Ball has been riddled with injuries throughout his career, but he’s hoping to have a fresh start with the Cavaliers.

For the first time in his career, Ball will be on a contender and he will step into an important role.

The Cavaliers will be leaning on Ball’s playmaking, offensive awareness and defensive playmaking from off the bench.

NBA legend Carmelo Anthony talked about how the Cavaliers can be dangerous if Ball can at least be at 60 or 70 percent health this season.

“He can defend. He’s a 6’6” point guard. His IQ is up there with the best of them in the NBA. He sees everything. He’s a floor general.

“He can score the basketball if he has to. Now, he has to be a little more consistent with his shot. But if we get 60 or 70 percent of Lonzo Ball, what we know he can do, that Cleveland team is dangerous.”

Carmelo Anthony says if Evan Mobley starts hitting the three, ‘he’ll be unstoppable’

Mobley is another player who will have the spotlight on him. Mobley is expected to take the next step in his career and possibly be an All-NBA type player.

Mobley has been steadily improving with the Cavaliers since entering the league. He won the 2025 NBA Defensive Player of the Year award last season.

Anthony said that if Mobley can add a consistent three-point shot to his arsenal, he will be unstoppable this season for Cleveland.

“He has to take that next step. If Mobley gets that three ball down, he’ll be unstoppable.

“My thing about Mobley is, is he tough enough to go through this and want that? Does he really do he want that from a toughness standpoint? Do Cleveland want it from a toughness stand?”

All eyes will be on the Cavaliers as they look to finally go on a deep run in the playoffs.
