Cavaliers guard Collin Sexton: 'I want to be here in Cleveland'

Since November, Cleveland Cavaliers guard Collin Sexton has been out of action after surgery to repair a torn meniscus

The Cavaliers' season came to an end on Friday after a 107-101 loss to the Atlanta Hawks in the second NBA play-in game.

This offseason, Sexton will be a restricted free agent. According to Cleveland.com's Chris Fedor, the 23-year-old guard would prefer to stay with the Cavaliers.

"I want to be here in Cleveland," Sexton said after the Cavaliers were eliminated Friday night. "I love the organization, love my teammates and whatever happens I know that Cleveland was really good to me. I know this is the place that helped me get to where I am today, and I know I want to continue to be a part of this winning culture. I feel like me just being able to be at the start of it helped us get to yesterday and where we are right now at the present. I love Cleveland. I want to be here."

Sexton just finished the final year of his rookie four-year, $20.17 million contract signed in 2018. A restricted free agent heading into next season, the Cavaliers will have to sign Sexton to a $7.22 million qualifying offer to retain him.

Sexton played just 11 games this season, averaging 16 points, 3.3 rebounds and 2.1 assists in 28.7 minutes per game.

The eighth overall pick by the Cavaliers in 2018, Sexton has averaged 20 points, three rebounds and 3.3 assists over four seasons in Cleveland.
