Cleveland Cavaliers forward Larry Nance Jr. has endured a season he'd likely prefer to forget and appears to be out for the remainder of the campaign.
On Monday, the Cavs confirmed that Nance suffered a right thumb fracture in Sunday's loss to the Washington Wizards. While Cleveland offered no timetable for his return, the Associated Press (h/t ESPN) added he will probably be sidelined through the rest of the season that concludes in mid-May.
According to Chris Fedor of Cleveland.com, Nance will miss a minimum of one to two weeks depending on his recovery.
Nance missed over a month with a fractured left hand earlier this year, and the 28-year-old was recently out for seven games due to a non-coronavirus-related illness that caused him to drop roughly 20 pounds. He has averaged 9.3 points, 6.7 rebounds and 1.7 steals per game across 35 contests during the 2020-21 campaign.
Sunday's result dropped Cleveland to 21-39 overall, and the Cavs are six games back of the conference's final play-in tournament berth. Barring an unexpected winning streak, the Cavs should and probably will allow Nance to heal and get right for the fall.
