Cavaliers Make Surprising Injury Announcement Before Game 4 vs. Pacers

The Cavaliers fought back on the road in Game 3 in their tense series against the Pacers on Friday night, rescuing their season with a convincing win over Indiana, 126-104. Not only did the Cavaliers get 43 points from star guard Donovan Mitchell, but they also had their full complement of players healthy and on the floor for the first time since Game 2 of the playoffs' opening round.

Darius Garland was back on the floor after missing four games because of a toe injury. Evan Mobley, the new Defensive Player of the Year, was back, too, after missing Game 2 with an ankle injury he suffered in the series opener. And DeAndre Hunter, the team's top sixth man, returned from a sprained thumb.

Garland struggled in his return, scoring 10 points on 3-for-10 shooting. Hunter, too, had issues with the thumb, as he went 2-for-6 shooting for eight points. But Mobley looked sharp, logging 18 points and 13 rebounds, a key factor in the Cavs dominating the boards, 56-37, in the game.

Heading into Sunday's Game 4, there is still some uncertainty about just how healthy the three will be when they return to action, again in a must-win on the road to avoid being pushed to the brink of elimination.

But the Cavaliers filed their official injury report with the NBA on Saturday night and there was surprisingly good news: No one is on it. Not Garland and his toe. Not Hunter and his wrist. Not Mobley and his ankle.

After the game on Friday, the Cavs sounded iffy on how healthy the trio would be.

Garland was supposed to miss as much as a month with the toe injury, but instead has been out only two weeks. As he said, via Cleveland.com: "Y’all don’t understand what I’m going through. I mean, everybody had their opinion.”

There's still time for the Cavaliers to change their injury outlook--the tip-off for Game 4 won't come until 8 p.m. ET. But for now, the report is clear.
