The Cleveland Cavaliers have a new face on their roster. The team announced on Monday afternoon that they were signing Sharife Cooper to a 10-day contract to fill their open roster spot.

This has been a long time coming for Cooper and it's awesome to see him finally get another shot in the NBA.

Cooper was a second-round pick of the Atlanta Hawks back in the 2021 draft but never found a role with the team. He only played in 13 games and averaged under three minutes during the 2021-22 season.

However, the 22-year-old guard has made a name for himself in the G League. Cooper was named to the All-NBA G League second team during the 2022-23 season and even appeared in the Next Up Game during last year's All-Star weekend.

This success has continued during this G League season making this 10-day contract more than deserved. Cooper is currently 18.5 points, 7.1 assists, 4.5 rebounds, and 1.4 steals in 33.9 minutes in 19 games with the Cleveland Charge.

Cooper also has Summer League Champion on his resume leading the Cavaliers to the title last July. He called himself a "natural leader" and that certainly showed up when the team was in Las Vegas.

There's still a lot of potential with Cooper and he's got a tremendous opportunity to display what he can bring to the team both on and off the floor.

These 10-day contracts shouldn't be overlooked either. The last member of the charge to sign one was Pete Nance and that got upgraded to a two-way deal.
