The Cavaliers are going to the NBA playoffs. That much we know.
But when that news becomes officially official … well, we’re still waiting on that part.
For the record, it can happen Thursday night with a road win over the Warriors (10 p.m. EST, FanDuel Sports TV). Yes, that’s all it will take. In fact, the Cavs merely need to win one of their final six games.
Or it could happen on a night when they don’t play at all. If Philadelphia had lost to Washington on Wednesday, the Cavs would’ve officially clinched their spot. Instead, the 76ers scored 153 points — in regulation — and walloped the poor Wizards. (Washington has won just once in its previous 21 games.)
Wizards gave up 153 points. Cavs will have to wait another day to officially clinch playoff spot. https://t.co/vzOJAEkLTW

Now, while the Cavs (47-29) will secure their spot very soon, we may not know their seed for another week. They’re currently at No. 4 in the Eastern Conference, 1.5 games back of the third-place Knicks. They’re 3.5 games ahead of the fifth-place Hawks.
So, prediction time: The Cavs will make the playoffs as the No. 4 seed. And it’s only a matter of time before the NBA officially agrees with me.
