Cavaliers Summer League coach Omar Cook had high praise for Tristan Enaruna, the former Cleveland State forward looking to make a name for himself in Las Vegas.
“He can be an NBA player,” Cook said, offering a bit of hope for fans of the local product, per Chris Fedor of Cleveland.com.
And apparently, the Cavs are giving him a legit look.
According to Fedor, Enaruna is among the group of players being evaluated for Cleveland’s final two-way contract. The 6-foot-8 forward has shown flashes on both ends of the court during Summer League play, bringing energy, length, and some defensive versatility.
He recorded 13 points and three rebounds in the Cavaliers’ summer win over the Milwaukee Bucks on Saturday.
Enaruna, 24, is a native of the Netherlands and played two seasons at Kansas before transferring to Iowa State, eventually finishing his college career at Cleveland State. He spent two seasons with the Vikings, averaging 19.5 points and 6.5 rebounds on his way to First Team All-Horizon League honors in 2024.
After that, he went undrafted before signing on with the Boston Celtics. He ended up with the Maine Celtics of the G League last season as a rookie, joining the Cavs’ summer roster last month.
Nae’Qwan Tomlin and Luke Travers currently hold two of Cleveland’s two-way spots. The final spot is available after the Cavs decided not to extend a qualifying offer to Emoni Bates. Enaruna, Norchad Omier, and others are competing for that last two-way.
