Cavs officially add Thomas Bryant to frontcourt mix

The Cavaliers have officially announced the signing of veteran center Thomas Bryant, giving them 14 standard contracts heading into training camp next week in Florida.

While the Cavs didn’t disclose terms, Hoops Wire has learned Bryant’s deal is for one year and non-guaranteed. It’s a low-risk move to add depth behind Jarrett Allen and Evan Mobley in the frontcourt.

Bryant, 28, split last season between the Heat and Pacers, appearing in 66 games and averaging 6.5 points and 3.8 rebounds while shooting 50.8 percent from the field. He also hit a career-high 48 threes and logged 20 postseason appearances with Indiana on its run to the Finals.

Now entering his ninth NBA season, Bryant has career averages of 8.9 points and 5.1 rebounds across 333 games with the Lakers, Wizards, Nuggets, Heat and Pacers. He was part of Denver’s title team in 2023 and originally entered the league as a second-round pick of the Jazz in 2017 out of Indiana University.

Bryant most recently worked out for the Knicks, reportedly “really impressing” during his audition before New York opted to pursue backcourt depth. He’ll wear No. 3 for Cleveland.
