The Cavaliers are keeping Jaylon Tyson around for at least another year.

Cleveland picked up Tyson’s third-year team option, the club announced Wednesday, locking in the 6-foot-6 wing for the 2026-27 season.

Tyson, the No. 20 pick in the 2024 draft, spent most of last season developing behind a deep rotation but flashed real promise when given minutes.

He appeared in 47 games (three starts), averaging 3.6 points and 2.0 rebounds in just under 10 minutes per contest.

His best moments came late in the year — a 31-point effort against the Pacers in April and a near triple-double in his first career start vs. New Orleans, when he went for 16 points, 11 boards, and seven assists.

That night, he became the first Cavs rookie to post a 16-11-7-2 stat line since Brad Daugherty in 1987.

Tyson also dominated stretches with the G League’s Cleveland Charge, averaging 18.4 points, 8.3 rebounds and 5.1 assists in eight appearances.

The move was expected, but it’s another sign the Cavs believe in the Tyson’s long-term upside — and see him as part of the depth and youth that could help balance the league’s most expensive roster.
