Cavs Reveal Brutal Injury Update on Darius Garland, Evan Mobley Before Pacers Matchup

There has been an atypical amount of hype surrounding the NBA playoffs this year for several reasons.

The main one being that the referees are allowing an unusual amount of physicality which has allowed the league to turn in some of its best playoff ratings of the century.

Another reason that there has been a large amount of fan interest is the general health of all the teams remaining.

Usually there is at least one star who misses the entire postseason or a team that endures a cluster of injuries at once. The Cleveland Cavaliers were one of the teams in the healthy bucket until recently.

Head coach Kenny Atkinson allowed some of his players to take some games off down the stretch to try and remain healthy for the playoff push.

They could afford this because they locked up the No. 1 seed in the Eastern Conference early, but the strategy doesn’t seem to have worked.

During Cleveland’s first-round series with the Miami Heat, All-Star point guard Darius Garland suffered an injury that caused him to miss the final two games and the opening match against the Indiana Pacers in the semifinals.

There was optimism that he could return for game two on Tuesday night but that no longer appears to be the case.

He was not on the floor for pre-game warmups and has been ruled out for the game.

Even with that stunning development, it isn’t the worst news the Cavs have received.

Apparently, Defensive Player of the Year Evan Mobley tweaked his ankle in the first game against Indiana, and he will miss the game as well.

Already being down 1-0 in the series, this is a nightmare for Cleveland who had real championship aspirations.

All they can do now is hope and pray that Donovan Mitchell is able to put the team on his back and steal a game on their home court, as crazy as it sounds.
