As the Boston Celtics prepare for their matchup against the Atlanta Hawks, they are monitoring key injury updates. The Celtics have put together an impressive season despite being without star Jayson Tatum, who tore his Achilles tendon during last year’s playoff series against the New York Knicks.

Jaylen Brown has stepped up in a major way, matching much of Tatum’s production and helping lead the team to the No. 2 seed in the Eastern Conference. The roster as a whole has elevated its play, with key contributions from Derrick White and Payton Pritchard.

Injuries remain a concern, however. According to the Celtics’ official X account, White is listed as questionable with a right knee contusion suffered in a recent game against the San Antonio Spurs.

White’s status will be important for the Celtics to monitor with the postseason approaching. His questionable designation raises concern that this injury could linger in the near term.

Despite missing a couple of games earlier this season with right knee and calf contusions, White has been outstanding. In 69 games, the 31-year-old is averaging 17.2 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 5.5 assists, while shooting 39.4% from the field and 32.5% from three-point range.

It has been one of the most productive seasons of his career, with improvements across the board. White continues to impact both ends of the floor with strong perimeter defense, elite shot-blocking for his position, and high-IQ plays.

Alongside Brown, Pritchard, and trade deadline addition Nikola Vucevic, the Celtics balanced lineup and consistent play give the team a strong chance to make a deep postseason run.

A former Colorado standout and the No. 29 pick in the 2017 NBA Draft, White has developed into one of the league’s premier two-way guards. Since arriving in Boston, he has become a cornerstone of the Celtics’ identity, playing a key role in the team’s 2024 championship run.

A two-time All-Defensive selection, he anchors the perimeter with discipline, versatility, and elite shot-blocking for his position.

His impact extends beyond defense, as he continues to grow as a reliable offensive contributor and playmaker. On July 1, 2024, he signed a four-year, $125.9 million contract extension, keeping him under contract through the 2028-29 season.

The deal reflects Boston’s confidence in his long-term value and leadership. Durable and consistent throughout the season, he is well-positioned to carry his momentum into the postseason and help lead another deep playoff run.
