The New York Knicks will begin the Eastern Conference Finals at home on Wednesday night as they take on the Indiana Pacers in Game 1 of the series.
New York enters the series as the heavy favorite as they look to reach the NBA Finals for the first time since 1999, which they lost to the San Antonio Spurs.
While the Knicks’ championship hopes are still alive, the same cannot be said for the Boston Celtics, who they defeated in six games in the second round.
The defending champion Celtics were unable to make it past the second round this season after losing in six games to the Knicks and they now have an interesting offseason ahead of them.
On Monday, general manager Brad Stevens met with the media for his outlook on the future of Boston’s roster but he also took a shot at the Knicks during his press conference.
“They are peaking,” Stevens said about the Knicks. “You can see it.”

This is a bold claim by Stevens and also a surprising one after New York eliminated Boston in the second round of the playoffs.
Of course, the Knicks went out and added both Mikal Bridges and Karl-Anthony Towns to their roster last offseason in hopes of building a roster that could compete with the Celtics this season in the East, and that is exactly what happened in the playoffs.
With their core of Jalen Brunson, Towns, Bridges, OG Anunoby and Josh Hart, New York has turned themselves into a title contender and it appears as though they will be that for quite some time in the near future.
Despite this, Stevens believes that the Knicks are “peaking” this season though that could also be due to the frustration of their second-round series where the Knicks were able to complete two 20-point comebacks to steal Game 1 and 2, eventually winning the series in six games.
Either way, Stevens took an opportunity to take a shot at the Knicks and New York will look to prove him wrong this season and into the future.
