Celtics Down a Starter but Welcome Malcolm Brogdon Back for Friday's Game vs. Pelicans
USA TODAY Sports

Right hamstring tightness forced Malcolm Brogdon to miss the second half of the Celtics' 128-112 win over the Pistons last Wednesday at TD Garden. Boston's new sixth man hasn't returned since, missing the previous four games.

But after getting upgraded to questionable, then remaining inactive for this Wednesday's 126-101 victory vs. the Hawks, Brogdon will be back in the lineup Friday night in New Orleans. The timing couldn't be better.

The Celtics will be without Marcus Smart for the second-straight game. Smart's dealing with right ankle inflammation, a flare-up of an injury he sustained last season.

Smart getting ruled out of Friday's game against the Pelicans comes after he missed today's shootaround to get medical treatment on his ankle, per Adam Himmelsbach of the Boston Globe.

As for New Orleans star Zion Williamson, after missing the Pelicans' last two games due to a right foot contusion, the former first-overall pick is questionable for tonight's tilt. As soon as there's an update on his status, this article will account for it.

Friday's battle in the Big Easy tips off at 8:30 pm EST. Inside The Celtics will have content related to the game coming out before, during, and after. And follow @BobbyKrivitsky on Twitter for updates and analysis from pregame to post.

Update: Zion Williamson is out for tonight's game.
