Celtics hire Charles Lee as lead assistant coach
Michael McLoone-USA TODAY Sports

The Boston Celtics continue to add to Joe Mazzulla's depleted coaching staff. A week after adding former Celtics guard Sam Cassell Boston is hiring former associate head coach of the Milwaukee Bucks Charles Lee. Lee will serve as Mazzulla's lead assistant coach.

Cassell and Lee give Mazzulla a ton of assistant coaching experience on his bench. I would have liked to see an addition who actually has NBA head coaching experience. Maybe an older coach who doesn't have a desire to be a head coach anymore and is content just sharing his wisdom.

I'm sure Brad Stevens is expecting to see improvement out of Mazzulla in Year 2, but if the team ever decides to go another route, don't be surprised if Lee or Cassell becomes the next Celtics head coach.
