After two seasons with the team, the Boston Celtics traded Kristaps Porzingis to the Atlanta Hawks as part of a three-team trade with the Brooklyn Nets earlier this offseason. This trade was widely anticipated due to Boston looking to move under the second apron, and the Latvian native is now officially on his third team in four years.
Though the trade came as no surprise, it was still a big loss for the Celtics. Despite his lack of availability, Porzingis was a huge addition for Boston and played a big role in the team's championship victory in 2024.
After the trade, Porzingis took to social media to express his gratitude for the Celtics organization. On Tuesday, the team reacted to Porzingis' message: "."

During his two-year stint in Boston, Porzingis averaged 19.8 points, 7 rebounds, 2 assists, and 1.8 blocks across 99 games. Additionally, he shot 50.2% from the field and 39.2% from beyond the arc during that stretch.
When healthy, Porzingis was a game-changer for Boston. He completely changed the team's dynamic on both sides of the ball and provided a big boost whenever he was on the court. This was most notable during Game 1 of the 2024 NBA Finals against his former team, the Dallas Mavericks.
With the 29-year-old now in Atlanta, he will look to help the Hawks contend in a wide-open Eastern Conference. If he can stay healthy, he should be a huge addition to the team, much like he was for Boston, who may not have won their 18th NBA title without him.
