Celtics' stance on Jayson Tatum trade revealed amid inquiries

The Boston Celtics shockingly moved on from one of their best players.

Jaylen Brown reportedly didn't request a trade, but they thought it was right to move him anyway.

Usually, whenever a team does that, it means that other valuable pieces can also be had at the right price. Notably, that's not the case with the Celtics and Jayson Tatum.

According to ESPN insider Shams Charania, the Celtics have been getting calls for Tatum's services for the past couple of weeks. They're not interested in that possibility.

The Celtics don't want to trade Jayson Tatum at any cost

“Over the last three, four weeks, while this Jaylen Brown stuff was going on, teams were calling the Celtics on Jayson Tatum”, Charania revealed. “Their answer was hard stop, ‘No, we’re not trading Jayson Tatum. 'He’s untouchable. He’s not on the table.’ Jaylen Brown, different story—open for business, ready to trade him, give us your best offer.  So that’s the dichotomy of both of those situations.”

According to Charania, the Celtics never truly felt that way about Brown. While they weren't actively shopping him, they could've considered a move at the right price.

Not for Tatum, though.

“Just so we know from a reporting perspective, like they treated Jaylen Brown different than they treated Jayson Tatum,” added Charania.

Tatum has been the undisputed face of the franchise since he entered the league, and not even watching Brown win Finals MVP changed that.

In the eyes of the fans -- and, apparently, the organization -- the Celtics were always his team, with Brown as the Robin to his Batman.

Brown will now finally be out of his shadow, and Tatum will have a chance to prove that he can lead a team of his own.

As for teams trying to get him: Don't even bother. It's not gonna happen.
