The Boston Celtics are set to face the New York Knicks tonight in Game 6 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals at Madison Square Garden. Trailing 3-2 in the series, the defending champions aim to extend their postseason run and force a decisive Game 7 back in Boston.

The series took a significant turn in Game 4 when Celtics star Jayson Tatum suffered a ruptured Achilles tendon late in the game. Tatum collapsed to the court, clutching his right heel, and was subsequently helped off. He underwent successful surgery shortly thereafter and is will miss several months of NBA game action.

The injury was a devastating blow to the Celtics, as Tatum had been a central figure in their playoff campaign. In a show of solidarity, the team visited Tatum at the hotel on Friday. Celtics wing Sam Hauser spoke on this ( via Noa Dalzell of SB Nation).

"It sucks to see someone like that go down,” Hauser said. “He doesn’t deserve it, but he wouldn’t want anything more than us to just keep winning.”

Tatum's contributions to the Celtics this season were substantial. He averaged 26.9 points, 8.8 rebounds, and 5.8 assists over 59 games, leading the team in multiple statistical categories. His performance has been crucial to the Celtics' success throughout the season.

With Tatum sidelined, the Celtics have turned to Jaylen Brown to lead the charge. In Game 5, Brown delivered a strong performance with 26 points and 12 assists, contributing to the team's 127-102 blowout  victory over the Knicks at TD Garden. His efforts, alongside those of Derrick White and Luke Kornet, were pivotal in keeping the Celtics' playoff hopes alive.

As Game 6 approaches, the Celtics will rely on Brown's leadership and the team's collective resilience to overcome the Knicks on their home court. A win would set the stage for a Game 7 showdown in Boston, keeping their championship aspirations within reach.
