Couldn’t remember the last time someone looked Draymond Green in his eyes and made him question his life choices . While even the NBA’s best defenders and most physical players avoid trading his genre, former superstar Charles Barkley had few reasons to follow the path.

Days after the two exchanged personal jabs on TNT’s studio show, Barkley doubled down during an appearance on The Dan Patrick Show, taking another direct swipe at Golden State’s current status in the NBA.

“The Warriors haven’t been relevant for three or four years,” he said. “When you’re in the Play-In, you’re not in the playoffs.”

Barkley argued that the NBA’s Play-In Tournament artificially keeps teams in postseason conversations, pointing out that Golden State has repeatedly found itself fighting through that format in recent years instead of contending for championships.

The latest back-and-forth between Barkley and Green started after the former Boston Celtics great declared that the Warriors’ dynasty was “over,” citing the age of the roster led by Stephen Curry and Green.

The Bay Area forward responded by mocking Barkley’s late-career stint with the Houston Rockets, joking that his goal was not to look like you in a Houston Rockets uniform.”

Barkley acknowledged that his Houston years were difficult but insisted his overall point about Golden State remains valid.

“Old people don’t get healthy — old people die,” Barkley said bluntly. “The notion that Draymond and Steph are going to get better when they get healthy and being a year older, they’re not.”

He then delivered the line that quickly went viral online: “If Golden State was relevant, he wouldn’t be in the studio with me.”

Dan Patrick Rosted Draymond Green Again After Charles Barkley Jab Backfired

Despite throwing a few punches in the air, Draymond Green had a hard time finding his ground after his awkward exchange with Charles Barkley on Inside the NBA.

Veteran broadcaster Dan Patrick addressed the situation on The Dan Patrick Show and argued that Green missed the bigger picture entirely.

“Charles’ bad year would be Draymond’s great year,” Patrick said while defending Barkley’s Houston production.

Patrick also suggested Green still has not figured out one of the most important parts of television analysis, which is the ability to laugh at yourself.

“If he wants to do this for a career, he needs to have a sense of humor,” Patrick explained, comparing Green’s reaction to the way Shaquille O’Neal eventually learned to embrace Barkley’s jokes on-air.

That said, the criticism is not necessarily always about championships. Most analysts openly acknowledge Green’s importance to the Golden State’s dynasty and his status as one of the greatest defensive players ever.

The larger issue, according to many observers, was the dismissive tone toward Barkley’s Hall of Fame stature.
