Chicago Bulls 2022-23 Report Cards: DeMar DeRozan
Kamil Krzaczynski-USA TODAY Sports

It's time to hand out another Chicago Bulls report card for the 2022-23 season. Thus far, we have graded  Andre Drummond, Derrick Jones Jr., Zach LaVine, Ayo Dosunmu, and Nikola Vucevic . Now, we will take a look at forward DeMar DeRozan.

In his second season with the Bulls, DeRozan picked up where he left off in 2021-22. DeRozan made his second consecutive All-Star team and was a key factor in the Bulls making the play-in tournament. Yeah, I know, it isn't the playoffs, but DeRozan still balled out.

On the season, DeRozan averaged 24.5 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 5.1 assists per game. He shot 50 percent from the field, but his three-point percentage was pretty awful at 32 percent. DeRozan has never been known as a three-point shooter, but if he was, he'd be even more deadly.

The veteran was the Bulls' second-leading scorer only behind Zach LaVine, led the team in assists, and ranked fourth in rebounding. Point blank, DeRozan was likely the most complete player on Chicago's squad in 2022-23.

I'm actively trying to give DeRozan all the credit he deserves on this report card. If the Bulls were a better-built team, his style of play could have benefited so many shooters. We all know he loves to operate in the paint or mid-range. If the Bulls had a competent three-point shooting presence, I truly believe DeRozan's assist numbers would have been higher than they were.

At 33 years old, DeRozan gave everything he could to the Bulls fans and organization. As he enters his final season under contract with the Bulls, reports have surfaced indicating he has interest in a max extension. We can debate if that's a good idea later.

Final Grade: B+

For DeRozan's final grade, I decided to go with a B+. He appeared in 74 games and clearly was hurt during the final stretch of the season. He still gave it all he had, and whenever his offensive game lacked, he had no issues deferring to LaVine. He's a true team-first guy, in my eyes.
