Chicago Bulls Make Announcement as Forward Ruled Out for Weeks

The Chicago Bulls are on a downward trajectory at the moment. The organization were finally able to find a trade destination for Zach LaVine, who was sent to the Sacramento Kings before the deadline.

Nikola Vucevic was one of the favorites to be traded by the Bulls as well but somehow, he still finds himself in the Windy City.

Winning is not the most important thing for the Bulls right now, that is for sure. As things stand, they are on a five-game losing streak and have a 22-34 record. Somehow, they still have a play-in spot.

Patrick Williams is another Bulls player whose name did the rounds of the trade rumor mill before the deadline but it led to nowhere of substance.

Now, it looks like Williams will be out of action for at least a couple of weeks, potentially longer.

According to the Bulls on X, Williams received a platelet rich plasma (PRP) injection to treat tendinosis in his right knee. He will be re-evaluated in two weeks.

Williams was selected fourth overall by the Bulls in the 2020 NBA Draft. Now in his fifth season with the franchise, he has never really had his breakout campaign so far.

This season, he has averaged 9.1 points, 4 rebounds and 2 assists while shooting with career-low efficiency, both from the field and three-point range.

So, it is not hard to see why the Bulls might be considering parting ways with Williams, as they kickstart a rebuild.

The issue is that it was just last summer that Williams re-signed with the Bulls on a contract believed to be worth $90 million over five years.

Not many teams around the league might be willing to make that sort of an investment on a player who has shown very little improvement over the past five seasons.
