Chicago Bulls to Move On From Troy Brown Jr.

Brown Jr. saw his minutes per game decrease from 18.2 in 2020-21 to 16.0 last season. His play on the offensive end also declined, as he averaged a career-low 4.3 PPG. While Brown did shoot 35.3% from behind the arc, the Bulls need a higher level of production from their wings.

The defensive of the ball is Brown Jr.’s forte, but he lost minutes to younger and more promising options in Ayo Dosunmu and Patrick Williams. Alas, the timing for both parties to go their separate ways just makes sense.

Filling the void Troy Brown Jr. leaves behind won’t be too challenging. The Bulls drafted Dalen Terry, who possesses a similar skill set to that of Brown Jr. and appears to be the logical replacement. Having a rookie contract on the books instead of shelling out $7.2 million is much more palatable, especially for that kind of offensive production. Financially, the Bulls also need to factor in Zach LaVine likely signing a pricey extension.

Minutes-wise, expect the Chicago Bulls to sign a 3-and-D player that can contribute defensively while increasing the team’s lagging three-point percentage.
