According to ESPN insider Shams Charania , the Chicago Bulls traded Lonzo Ball to the Cleveland Cavaliers in exchange for wing Isaac Okoro. NBA insider Jake Fischer has confirmed the trade is a player-for-player swap, echoing the Alex Caruso for Josh Giddey swap last offseason.
This news follows reports from Joe Cowley of the Sun-Times, who indicated that the Bulls were actively engaged in trade discussions involving Ball and Coby White. Back in February, HoopsHype’s Michael Scotto reported that the Memphis Grizzlies, Detroit Pistons, and Minnesota Timberwolves had all shown interest in acquiring Ball.

Garnering this much trade interest and a trade itself is an incredible feat after battling such a brutal injury dating all the way back to January 2022. He had recently signed a two-year team-friendly extension worth $20 million, which includes a team option for the second year.
In return, the Bulls received Isaac Okoro, who averaged a career-low in both minutes and points during the past season. Okoro is entering the second year of his three-year rookie extension, valued at over $30 million. Notably, the acquisition of Okoro does take up part of the Bulls' valuable salary cap space for 2026.
