Chris Boucher Reacts To Being Left Off Team Canada
John E. Sokolowski-USA TODAY Sports

Toronto Raptors center Chris Boucher is not happy about being left off Team Canada.

With the Paris Olympics this summer, Canada had a lot of capable NBA players who could be on the roster. Notably with Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Jamal Murray, so the window to win a medal is now.

As more Canadians enter the league, it becomes harder to make decisions on who makes the cut. Unfortunately, Boucher was that casualty and took to Instagram to share his immediate reactions, via Barnes Muse:

Chris Boucher is the lone player remaining from the Toronto Raptors championship team from 2019.

The 31-year-old signed a three-year, $35.2 million contract with the Raptors in 2022. Now he is entering the final year of his deal after this season.

A lot has changed since then as Toronto embarks on a new journey as a franchise. After trying to remain competitive since the title, the Raptors are the midst of a much needed rebuild.

After being throw into trade rumors last deadline, Toronto did not pull the trigger on a deal. Despite not representing his country this summer, he could very well get shipped out to another destination.

Boucher only saw minutes in garbage time after the Raptors moves, so it is clear that he does not fit with this new youth movement. Should he get traded, hopefully he is able to spread his wings and showcase some production on a playoff team.

Darko Rajakovic speaks on Chris Boucher’s role in Toronto

All things considered, the 2023-24 season did not go as planned for Boucher. He had to deal with a diminished role and new players coming in, changing the team’s direction.

Head coach Darko Rajakovic spoke to his role on the team after the trade deadline. While Rajakovic told him to stay ready, it is clear that this something that Boucher envisioned heading into this past season.
