Anthony Edwards was the best player on the floor during the Minnesota Timberwolves' 143-101 victory over the Oklahoma City Thunder in Game 3 of the Western Conference Finals. It was an impressive performance, as he posted 30 points, nine rebounds, and six assists.
The game was more than his numbers because he controlled every facet. He was scoring and playmaking, but he also played strong defense. The Thunder had no answer for him, as the 2024-25 MVP, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, had his worst game of the 2025 postseason.
Most players would struggle to bounce back from a pair of tough results against the best team in the league. Anthony Edwards is not like most players because he kept his chin up and worked hard to win Game 3.
It was a fantastic night for the Timberwolves, dominating the Thunder by 42 points. This has to be up there as their most impressive postseason game. Of course, this is only one win, but it could be the foundation for an upset for Minnesota.
No one was happier for Anthony Edwards' Game 3 performance than head coach Chris Finch. He was ecstatic for Edwards and Julius Randle, who had a strong bounce-back night.
Edwards displayed strong leadership throughout the season, but people saw it on the biggest stage against the Thunder. Most teams would fold against Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and the Thunder, but the Timberwolves played their game and dominated Game 3.

"Positivity. We talked about what we were doing well. Keep staying positive with your teammates; he was fine. Keep feeding them, keep knocking down shots," Finch said about Edwards' attitude. "Ant is resilient that way. He always comes in a good mood, he's always ready to go. He was one of the positive voices after Game 2 in the locker room. The leadership he has shown this season has grown leaps and bounds."
The Timberwolves franchise player has embraced his role. He has focused on being a guiding light the team needs in the quest to win a championship.
Most people outside the Timberwolves organization might think Edwards is a loudmouth because of his big personality. He loves to talk, but he always talks up his teammates. Edwards is a natural leader because of his genuine love for his teammates.
Julius Randle has only been with the team for the 2024-25 season, but Edwards has made him feel like he's been with the team for ages. That kind of inclusive leadership comes naturally to Edwards because he is a selfless player. He is always focused on helping the team.

"He’s the definition of selfless. Shortly after (Game 2), he knows I’m hot, I’m upset. Not just because of the loss, but because I want to play well and I want to help my team," Randle said about Edwards' leadership. "He was the first one, he seen me. He was like, 'Bro, just shake back, you good. Don’t worry about it.' As the flight went on, I started smiling and laughing again... He's very mature, and he's very in tune with the team, and as a leader, you need that."
With Edwards as the superstar and leader for the Timberwolves, the team is in good hands. The franchise is destined for success, which could come this year, but they have a bright future with a 23-year-old superstar leading the way.
