Future Hall of Fame Point Guard could sign with the Portland Trail Blazers this offseason. That is the most recent reporting from NBA journalist Sam Amico. Here is what he had to say about the point guard’s fit with the Blazers this summer.
“The Blazers are among the teams that could have an interest in Chris Paul should he not return to the Spurs. Portland GM Joe Cronin has suggested he likes the roster as currently constructed, though those around the league have said the Blazers would like to add a veteran guard to mentor Scoot Henderson.” Where will Paul play next season?

Even though Paul is not the player he once was, he showcased during the 2024-25 regular season he could still be a solid NBA player. He had a strong season with the San Antonio Spurs in a limited role. He finished with a career-low 8.8 points per game but finished seventh in the league in assists. He was brought to San Antonio to help mentor Victor Wembanyama and the rest of a young roster. He would look to fill a similar role next season with the Portland Trail Blazers.
Even though Portland finished with the fourth-worst record in the Western Conference, they showed some promise this calendar year. The team went 23-18 since January 19. That led to Head Coach Chauncey Billups being granted a contract extension once the regular season concluded.
If Paul were to sign with the Blazers, he would be tasked with mentoring young Guard Scoot Henderson. Henderson was drafted No. 3 overall in the 2023 NBA Draft. He has yet to reach his full potential in the league. Paul, one of the league’s most respected players, would be a great person to learn from.
If Paul decides to play next season, which he is expected to, any NBA team will be lucky to have him. Across his NBA career, wherever Paul goes winning follows. He always helps teams win when he comes to town. If Paul signs with the Blazers, it would show the team is serious about being contenders sooner rather than later.
