The Golden State Warriors will be without veteran point guard Chris Paul for a significant period.

Paul suffered an injury to his left hand during Golden State’s 113-109 win over the Detroit Pistons on Friday night. The Warriors announced following the game that Paul fractured his hand and will undergo surgery.

On Sunday, ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported that Paul is expected to miss 4-6 weeks. Paul’s injury came a day before Draymond Green was reinstated from his suspension.

Paul, 38, has had a total of 11 hand surgeries during his 19-year NBA career. His procedure this week will be his sixth to his left hand.

The Warriors acquired Paul in a trade with the Washington Wizards over the summer. Through 32 games with Golden State, he is averaging 8.9 points and 7.2 assists per game. He has played 27.6 minutes per game, which is a career low.
