After finishing the 2024-25 regular season with a 64-18 record, the Cleveland Cavaliers will go into next season with higher expectations. Making it only to the second round won’t cut it anymore for this team.
During his exit interview, Cleveland Cavaliers president Koby Altman believes Evan Mobley will hold the keys to the team’s fortunes in the present and the immediate future.
“We’re going to go as a franchise as Evan is going to go. And we’ve had that conversation with Evan. In the playoffs, we need more. We need more than 13 field goal attempts per game — that’s new for Evan. There’s another jump,” Altman said about Mobley via The Associated Press.
“And so to that point, Kenny’s going to be able to implement his offseason program, which we’re very excited about. And we’re going to see some internal growth there, and we think we have one of the best big men in the game in Evan Mobley,” he added.
Cleveland Cavaliers president Koby Altman plans to run it back with the same team next season since he believes they have yet to tap into their full potential. He doesn’t expect to make any trades this offseason, unless he receives an offer he can’t refuse.
“We’re not gonna go anywhere,” Altman said via Sam Amico of Hoops Wire. “We’re gonna keep fighting for that championship. The window is wide open, we believe… I love our foundation, I love our core.”
“I’m really high on and optimistic about our future. That being said, it can’t be just 82 (regular season) games… Playoff success needs to come next,” he added.
