The Los Angeles Clippers are expected to be on the hunt for a big name this offseason.
After winning 50 games last season, they're going to be looking to take another step towards the top of the Western Conference.
There have been some interesting names presented already before the NBA season has even come to an end.
A trade for LaMelo Ball has been predicted multiple times, including by his own brother.
There was a report they would be interested in Boston Celtics guard Jrue Holiday this offseason.
A recent comment from Chris Paul about wanting to be closer to his family could mean that he's looking to make a return.
Now we can add another big name to the list.
During a recent radio show, Arizona Sports 98.7 FM's John Gambadoro named the Clippers as a team he believes will be in contact with the Suns about Durant.
We’ve never talked about the Clippers before but they got Zubac, they got Dunn, they got Powell, they got Derrick Jones. I’ll have to look at what their draft capital is but the Clippers are a team that I heard.
The Suns moving on from Durant this offseason seems to keep becoming more and more likely.
It makes sense for the Clippers to join in the bidding for him.
Their offense struggled last season, finishing 20th in the league in scoring.
Durant is still one of the most dangerous players in the league on the offensive end of the floor. He averaged 26.6 points per games while shooting 52.7% from the field and 43% from three.
He could slide right into a power forward slot where the team didn't have somebody they could dependably start this past season.
The trade cost shouldn't be prohibitive as Durant will turn 37 before the start of next season.
If the Clippers want to add some star power and give their offense more firepower for next season, Durant may be the best answer for them and it sounds like there is some expectation they'll be in the mix for the 15-time All-Star.
