Clippers’ Paul George Has Major Praise For Bones Hyland
Jayne Kamin-Oncea-USA TODAY Sports

The Los Angeles Clippers will start the NBA season with a great roster. Although they haven’t been able to find a way to get to the Conference Finals, they remain hopeful. Since acquiring superstar Kawhi Leonard, injuries have kept the duo of him and Paul George from seeing success.

Despite that, the young core aside from them has shown glimpses of improvement. In fact, George has shared major praise for teammate Bones Hyland.

In February, Hyland was traded to the Clippers from the Nuggets for two second round picks. Since then, he has been a bright young star looking to make an impact off the bench, or perhaps as a starter.

George commented on what he has seen so far from Hyland. He started by saying that he loved “Bones’ aggression.” In addition, he thought Hyland was great “off the bounce, him getting to his shots, getting to his points on the floor, his playmaking, his creativity.”

Besides the offense, he also commented on Hyland’s effort on the defensive end. “I know he’s not a defensive guy, but he gives great effort on the defensive end and he’s long, he’s quick, he makes plays on both ends,” said George.

Hyland appeared in 14 games off the bench for the Clippers since the trade and averaged nearly 11 points a game. Now entering his first full season, he’ll definitely be an important piece for the team. The 6’3 combo guard has a unique skill set and can create off the dribble while still maintaining play-making abilities.

Barring injuries once again, the Clippers are a team that can compete in the Western Conference. However, in order to do so their star players need to be more consistent. Additionally, with the improvements to their bench, the ceiling for the team can be much higher than anticipated.
