Clippers Predicted to Make Jrue Holiday Move After James Harden News

The Los Angeles Clippers are expected to keep James Harden this summer. Even as Harden enters his mid-30s, he's still one of the league's best players, coming off an All-Star and All-NBA third-team selection.

Though the 2018 NBA MVP has a player option and could enter free agency, all indications are that he will stay in Los Angeles no matter what. NBA Insider Jake Fischer reported on The Stein Line that Harden is expected to remain a Clipper this offseason.

"The Clippers' James Harden, Dallas' Kyrie Irving and the Lakers' LeBron James all have the ability to become free agents in late June, but all three are widely expected to remain with their current clubs," Fischer wrote.

With Harden presumably staying in LA, the Clippers could be looking to add backcourt help alongside him. MassLive's Brian Robb reported one of their targets will be Boston Celtics guard Jrue Holiday.

"Holiday is expected to be pursued by several teams on the trade market, and a league source tells MassLive that the Los Angeles Clippers are one team expected to show interest in the 34-year-old guard this offseason," Robb wrote.

The Clippers were interested in Holiday two years ago after the Portland Trail Blazers acquired him, but the Celtics outbid them. Now that the Celtics are looking to cut costs, the opportunity to get Holiday has shown itself again.

Robb floated that the Celtics could trade him for a package including Bogdan Bogdanovic, Drew Eubanks, and one of Jordan Miller or Cam Christie to match the salaries. It may take more than that though. Another player the Celtics could ask for is Kris Dunn, who they acquired in 2021 but shortly traded away.
