With a day until the NBA Draft, the Los Angeles Clippers have already seen a few veteran options to bolster their roster traded elsewhere.
Now that those options are off the board, what the Clippers decide to do with the 30th pick in the draft could have an even bigger impact on how they construct their roster for the 2025-26 season.
USA Today's Jeff Zillgitt, Lorenzo Reyes, and James H. Williams believe the Clippers could end up turning to an international player with that pick.
In their latest mock draft, they predicted the Clippers would use the 30th pick to select point guard Ben Saraf from the Bundesliga's Ratiopharm Ulm.
Saraf could be an interesting fit for the Clippers.
They need another guard who can partner with James Harden in their current backcourt and will need somebody to take over at point guard when Harden moves on from the team in a couple of seasons.
Saraf would give them an option in that spot who can score and create for his teammates. He averaged 12.2 points and 4.3 assists per game for Ulm this past season.
At 6'6", he is also on the larger size for a point guard.
However, he does also come with some drawbacks. He isn't a very good shooter. He knocked down just 28.6% of his three-point attempts and shot only 72.7% from the free throw line this past season.
Saraf also isn't the most athletic, which could be very limiting on both ends of the floor.
While these factors may be concerning, they are also things that Saraf has plenty of time to change. He is just 19 years old.
Sitting at the 30th pick, I like the idea of the Clippers taking a chance on a player with some upside rather than one with a safe floor. Saraf can provide that upside and maybe work his way into the rotation as a rookie depending on what else the Clippers do this offseason.
