Clippers star Paul George warns NBA about Kawhi Leonard

The Clippers have yet to live up to their potential since landing stars Kawhi Leonard and Paul George in 2019, with both players plagued by injuries. Leonard missed all last season due to a torn ACL in his right knee. George played in only 31 games last season before suffering a season-ending right elbow injury.

Now Leonard, a two-time NBA champion, may be in the best shape of his life.

“He looks in midseason form... which is a scary sight,” George said in a Clippers hype video on Wednesday.

The Clippers, which finished 42-40 last season and lost in the play-in game, have everything they need to make a deep playoff run. When healthy, Leonard and George play extremely well together, and head coach Tyronn Lue understands how to get the most from them.

The Clippers retained most of their roster from last season and added veteran guard John Wall, whom the youthful Rockets decided not to play last season. When healthy, Wall is still a strong scorer and playmaker.

Of course, that's the problem. Wall has rarely been healthy in recent seasons. He missed the entire 2019-20 season because of injuries and hasn't played close to a full season since 2017. In fact, Wall has played in only 40 games over the past three seasons.

Lue must manage Wall’s minutes carefully, but the former star could allow Leonard and George to play in attack mode as scorers and thus not have to initiate offense for others.
