Clippers' Terance Mann on Jazz's meltdown in 2021 playoffs: 'We knew we were mentally stronger than their team’

The Clippers’ epic 25-point comeback in Game 6 of a second round series against the Jazz in the 2021 NBA Playoffs was unforgettable.

Terance Mann led the way in the incredible 131-119 come-from-behind home win that clinched the series for the Clippers on June 18, 2021. It’s been over a year since that game but Mann remembers it clearly.

Mann appeared on "Clips Nation’s Courtside" podcast with Jon Lee and Jack Coghlan on Wednesday and talked about how the Clippers’ mindset helped them pull off a legendary playoff comeback.

“We were down by like 25 or something like that but... we knew we were mentally stronger than their team, so we knew we were going to bring ourselves back in the game and give ourselves a chance.

Everybody was confident about that at half time and that kind of was the speech; we know what they’re capable of, we know they’re gonna let us back in the game. Just once we do get back in the game, stick to the game plan and do what we do.”

Mann’s statement sums up what the Clippers thought about the Jazz in that series, as well as how confident they were about their potential as a group. The way the Clippers took down the Jazz proved to themselves that they were right.

This game was, undoubtedly, the biggest of Mann’s career so far. He went off for 25 points in the second half, leading the comeback. He finished the game with a career-high 39 points on 15-of-21 shooting and 7-of-10 from three-point range.

Mann played a big role for the Clippers last year, averaging 10.8 points, 5.2 rebounds and 2.6 assists in 28.6 minutes over 81 games (33 starts) and he’s expected to be a key reserve for them next season.
