Colin Cowherd Reveals Exact Moment Kevin Durant 'Tanked His Own Career'

Kevin Durant is one of the very best NBA players of all time. He is the eighth player to score 30,000 points, has two rings, 15 All-Star appearances, and 11 All-NBA nods. However, he is not without controversy. He fled the small-market Oklahoma City Thunder to join the already-dominant Golden State Warriors and then pushed his way out of The Bay to play for the Brooklyn Nets, before finally requesting a trade to the Phoenix Suns.

While Kobe Bryant, Tim Duncan, Stephen Curry, and Dirk Nowitzki are all praised for their loyalty, Durant has been the opposite.

Most fans would agree that Durant "ruined" his legacy when he signed with the Warriors, although one league expert thinks Durant's worst move came years later.

By signing with the Warriors, Durant immediately created the most dominant team the league has ever seen, making three Finals in a row and winning two of them. He and Curry were the most talented duo to step on a court, and breaking up that band was a grave mistake, claims Colin Cowherd.

"Kevin Durant tanked his own career. He really did. He was, at the time when he was in Golden State, Kevin Durant was a, there were half the people covering the league said he was better than LeBron. He was beating LeBron. He was a better offensive player. He made Steph look small. He was MVP of Final twice. The league thought it was unfair. I mean, Adam Silver was uncomfortable with how dominant they were. And then he decided, 'I want to go play with Kyrie in Brooklyn.' I've always felt the difference between LeBron and KD is not their games. They're both all-time great players. The difference between LeBron and KD is LeBron is more like a Gordon Ramsey or a Jay-Z. I'm not a businessman. I'm a business, man. Kevin Durant is more the artist who halfway through the tour, cancels the tour, sues Ticketmaster, and gets into a fistfight with his drummer." -Colin Cowherd

While most NBA fans celebrated Durant leaving one superteam for another in Brooklyn, it just cemented the narrative that Durant is not loyal.

However, if he demands a trade from the Phoenix Suns this offseason, it would be hard to blame him, as the Suns have already made it clear they have no future in mind with him, considering they were taking calls about him before the trade deadline.
