The Suns might have lost another close matchup on Wednesday night, but their guard Collin Gillespie was shining bright again for Phoenix.
Gillespie’s rise from fringe rotation player to impact guard has given the Suns a new heartbeat off the bench. On Wednesday night, Gillespie shot 5-for-10 and had 17 points in 31 minutes along with six rebounds, five assists, and two steals. Gillespie’s story isn’t just about a breakout waiting to happen, it’s about hard work meeting opportunity.
Collin Gillespie spoke on how he continues to develop his talents, “Just being aggressive and look for my shot and then play my game. Try to do a little bit of everything and just try to play winning basketball and let the rest take care of itself. Try to settle us down offensively and get us into
some good looks. But that’s really it.” (Credit: Phoenix Suns)

Collin Gillespie is 6’1″ so we need to be realistic about his defensive ability but bottom line, his competition level is always high.
Big difference from a PG like Tyus Jones last year dying on every screen.

Crazy that Collin Gillespie went undrafted just a couple years ago. His game is so pure.

Suns Head Coach Jordan Ott also spoke on Gillespie and mentioned, “I think multiple games here in a row, he’s played well, he’s been aggressive. We want him to be aggressive, get into the paint. He’s another guy that can get in the paint for us. He’s even had a couple where he dribbled along the baseline, kept his dribble alive to find his teammate. Another good night, finished the game with him. Not sure many people would have said that a year ago, and that’s a credit to who he is and the work he’s put in and he’s only going to continue to get better.” (Credit: Phoenix Suns)
