Draymond Green had a rough Thursday night, as the Golden State Warriors were dismantled by the Minnesota Timberwolves in Game 2 of their second-round playoff series.
Following a 99-88 win with Steph Curry only playing 12 minutes, the Warriors faced a different challenge and couldn't keep up with Minnesota.
Julius Randle with 24 points, Anthony Edwards and Nickeil Alexander-Walker with 20 points each, helped the Timberwolves secure a 117-99 win to tie the series with one win per team.
The four-time NBA champion had a lot to say after he picked up a technical foul in the second quarter of the match. He was fouled by Timberwolves center Naz Reid before trying to draw a shooting foul and hitting Reid in the head with his elbow.
Green wasn't happy with the call and quickly confronted the referee. After the game was over, Green called out an agenda against him, claiming he's constantly presented as an "angry black man."
In the wake of this incident, ESPN reporter Brian Windhorst (via Clutch Points on X) revealed that, contrary to what Green said in his rant, several people around the league believe he's getting different treatment, even when he's on the brink of getting ejected from games.
"He's got five technicals and two flagrants in nine playoff games. He probably should have more technicals," Windhorst said. "That's a big complaint across the league [is] that Draymond [Green] gets away with stuff after he commits a flagrant and after he commits a technical and sometimes even after he gets five fouls. There is a belief that Draymond actually gets too much leeway, this is not my words, this is what people tell me.
"They say he gets away with too much stuff, because the referees don't want to be the one who ejects him or calls a second flagrant on him, because they know there's going to be an onslaught."
Green is a key player in the Warriors' championship aspirations. They need him to be on the court, even more so after Curry will miss a week of action due to a hamstring injury.
The Dubs will go back home for Game 3, hoping to show a different face against the inspired Timberwolves, who had no mercy on them in the second matchup.
