'Connelly Won’t Hesitate to Pull the Trigger' – Minnesota Timberwolves Insider Hints at the Front Office’s Plans to Improve PG Depth

The Minnesota Timberwolves haven’t done much this offseason, except for keeping Julius Randle, Naz Reid , and Joe Ingles on their roster, so they’ll essentially have the same core that brought them to the Western Conference Finals in back-to-back seasons.

However, their point guard depth still needs improvement, and Minnesota Timberwolves insider Jon Krawczynski thinks that president Tim Connelly will address this before the February trade deadline.

“What I do know is that if point guard is not solidified and the rest of the team looks primed for another deep playoff run, Connelly will not hesitate to pull the trigger on a big trade. That is the way he’s built these Wolves, and it won’t stop now,” Krawczynski wrote in his mailbag article with The Athletic.

“Maybe the Spurs would part with De’Aaron Fox if things aren’t going well there, though the money would give me pause. Maybe one of the Jones brothers (Tyus or Tre) could be had in Chicago or Orlando,” he added.

Minnesota Timberwolves unlikely to reunite with former guard, per insider

The Minnesota Timberwolves have been linked to a potential reunion with free agent guard Malik Beasley, who was a target of a federal gambling investigation. However, The Athletic’s Jon Krawczynski doesn’t see it happening anytime soon.

“The Wolves do have, technically, an open roster spot, but I just don’t think that that is an option that they’re really considering right now,” Krawczynski stated on his podcast.

“Beasley was here; he had a good season here, but he also had plenty of off-the-court issues here as well. I think that maybe there was a conversation or something with Beasley’s representatives, just checking things out, but I do not get the sense that there’s anything serious with Malik Beasley, and I would not expect him to be on the Timberwolves roster come training camp, barring some major change that I just don’t see coming,” he added.
