Oklahoma City Thunder fans certainly won’t be happy with the timeout the San Antonio Spurs had in the final seconds of the first overtime period of Game 1 on Monday night.

Both teams have been relentless as they traded blows throughout the course of regulation. This resulted in them going into overtime, showing how elite both squads have been after 60-win regular-season campaigns.

San Antonio was even with Oklahoma City at 108 points apiece. Following a miss from Jalen Williams, San Antonio tried to secure the ball and call a timeout for one last play. While they got the call they needed, Thunder fans noted how Dylan Harper was out of bounds when referees made the timeout call.

How Thunder played against Spurs in Game 1

The Thunder will regret not being able to challenge that ruling. It ended being costly as the Spurs took them down in a double-overtime thriller throughout Game 1.

Oklahoma City lost its first playoff game this year, coming off dominant sweeps over the Phoenix Suns and the Los Angeles Lakers in the first two rounds. However, the Spurs have proved themselves to be a tough test for the defending champions. This series has now taken an intriguing turn with San Antonio winning on the road, putting the pressure on Oklahoma City to respond back.

Three players scored in double-digits for Oklahoma City in the loss. Alex Caruso was on fire off the bench, finishing with 31 points, two rebounds, two steals, and two blocks. He shot 11-of-19 from the field, including 8-of-14 from beyond the arc. Jalen Williams came next with 26 points and seven rebounds, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander had 24 points and 12 assists, while Chet Holmgren provided eight points and eight rebounds.

The Thunder will look to bounce back and tie up the series at one game apiece when they host the Spurs. Game 2 takes place on May 20 at 8:30 p.m. ET.
