Cooper Flagg had another impressive game for the Dallas Mavericks, albeit in a loss to the Phoenix Suns. The No. 1 overall pick of the 2025 NBA Draft finished with 16 points on 6-of-15 shooting, along with six rebounds, six assists, three steals and two blocks.
The Mavs are now 3-9 on the season after the 123-114 loss, but Flagg's improvement is certainly a silver lining in an otherwise messy season. The Dallas rookie is now averaging 15.1 points, 6.8 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 1.4 steals after 12 games.
However, Wednesday's game wasn't entirely positive for Flagg. In fact, he had an injury scare in the first quarter and had to briefly leave the contest.
While Flagg was driving to the basket, Suns guard Grayson Allen hit him on his left shoulder/elbow area. The 18-year-old forward was clearly hurt and had to head to the locker room to get checked out.
While Flagg was able to return to the game, he was seen with an ice pack on his left shoulder, sparking concerns about his condition.
In his postgame presser, nonetheless, the former Duke star clarified that he was not injured and that he's simply "banged up."
"No injuries," Flagg stated, according to Abby Jones of DLLS Sports. "I'm a little banged up. It's a lot of games, that's a little different; you know not as much time in-between so I think the body is adjusting. I'm getting with strength coaches, medical staff and everybody. I'll be alright."
I asked Cooper Flagg if he had an injuries.

It's worth noting that Flagg suffered a thumb injury over the weekend and landed on the team's injury report. Fortunately, he was not ruled out for any of their last three games.
Dallas won't have much rest, though. They will play the Los Angeles Clippers on Friday, and then the Portland Trail Blazers and Minnesota Timberwolves in back-to-back games on Sunday and Monday.
