Cooper Flagg hasn’t even had time to unpack, but he’s already making moves in Dallas. Just two days after being drafted No. 1 overall by the Mavericks, the 18-year-old rising star is showing fans exactly what kind of presence he plans to be both on and off the court.
While most rookies might take a moment to settle in, Flagg was spotted at the Mavericks facility, spending time with kids and embracing his new role in the community.
In a video shared on X, Flagg was seen practicing a few drills with kids in what appeared to be a Dallas Mavericks camp. Flagg was seen doing a few drills himself but also helping out the children and explaining techniques to them. Needless to say, an incredibly heartwarming gesture from the young man.

Dallas may have only had a sliver of hope in the draft lottery, but that tiny chance paid off in a big way. With Flagg, the Mavericks didn’t just land a promising prospect, they secured a player who’s ready to contribute from day one.
Flagg brings elite defensive instincts, sharp playmaking and rapidly improving offensive skills. He’s a shot-blocking, steal-grabbing, all-around weapon with serious upside. More than just a pick, he’s a long-term cornerstone for the franchise — exactly what Dallas needed after losing Luka Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers last season.
Once Flagg puts pen to paper on his rookie deal, he’s set to earn $62.7 million over the next four years, a solid start by any standard. But if he lives up to the hype as a generational talent, things could really take off.
His next contract could see him making over $70 million a year, and by the time he’s signing his third deal, that number might even top $100 million annually. Big expectations, but big potential rewards too.
