Cooper Flagg is predicted to become a great player in the NBA. However, it is too early to believe Flagg will ever be good enough to make anyone’s Mount Rushmore of players.

Flagg was recently asked about what is his NBA Mount Rushmore and he didn’t hesitate to answer.

“My Mount Rushmore of NBA players, I would say Larry Bird, Michael Jordan, LeBron [James], and probably Kobe [Bryant],” Flagg said.

Larry Bird was a player Flagg grew up loving, since he is from Newport, Maine. Flagg’s parents loved the Boston Celtics and Bird. In fact, his mother once gifted him a 1985-86 Celtics DVD set for Christmas.

“We’re huge Celtics fans,” Flagg’s mother, Kelly Flagg, said. “We used to watch film on the Celtics with the older guys. (Larry) Bird, (Kevin) McHale, (Robert) Parish, (Danny) Ainge – who was my guy; we had that on. We bought the kids the 1985-86 Celtics DVD set.

“That was Cooper’s Christmas present when he was eight. When we traveled to AAU events down here in Massachusetts, it would play in our van.”

So, it is not surprising to see Flagg pick Bird as his favorite player. He is on record, however, picking Michael Jordan as the NBA GOAT.

Flagg also gave his answer on what his WNBA Mount Rushmore is.

“Candace Parker, Brittney Griner, I think A’ja Wilson is on there,” Flagg said. “And then I might put Caitlin Clark on there just because she’s changed the game so much, and it’s heading in the right direction. And I just love what she’s been able to do.”

Flagg’s selections are hard to argue with on both of his Mount Rushmores. He will now join two other superstar players in Dallas with Anthony Davis and Kyrie Irving.

Who knows, with their leadership and his skills, be one day Flagg will be mentioned on people’s Mount Rushmore of NBA greats.
