NBA rookie Cooper Flagg shined in the Dallas Mavericks’ 76-69 loss to the San Antonio Spurs at the Thomas & Mack Center on Saturday. The Mavericks fell to 1-1, while the Spurs improved to 2-0. Read on for Flagg’s dominant performance, along with fellow NBA rookie David Jones-Garcia’s equally dominant performance.

Cooper Flagg Shines in Dallas Mavericks Loss to San Antonio Spurs

Cooper Flagg was great in the Dallas Mavericks’ loss to the San Antonio Spurs with 31 points. Flagg, 18, shot 10-of-12 from the field goal line and 8-of-13 from the free throw line.

Flagg’s performance can be described as a comeback after a lackluster debut on Thursday. Flagg previously was 5-for-21 and missed each of his five attempts from the 3-point line. Flagg only had his versatility as a rebounder, passer, and defender going for him in Thursday’s game.

More Shining Stars In Dallas’ Loss To San Antonio

Aside from Cooper Flagg, Miles Kelly was the second-highest scorer in the Dallas Mavericks’ loss to the San Antonio Spurs. Kelly, 22, scored 11 points, along with 2 rebounds and 2 steals, on 3-of-8 shooting from the field, 2-of-6 from the 3-point line, and 3-of-3 from the free throw line.

And, for the Spurs, Jones-Garcia led the team in scoring with 21 points. Jones-Garcia, 23, shot 8-of-15 from the field and 2-of-2 from the free throw line. Jones-Garcia’s performance was reportedly inspired by his late father, David Apolinar Jones, as he makes a strong bid for a deal with the Spurs.

Final Thoughts

Cooper Flagg achieved a nice comeback on Saturday following a lackluster performance. Flagg’s shooting struggles overshadowed his game-winning block and assist on Thursday. Flagg has room for improvement to achieve success as an NBA player. The Mavericks will face the Charlotte Hornets on Monday at 3:30 p.m. Pacific, while the Spurs will take on the Utah Jazz on Monday at 5:30 p.m. Pacific.
