Could Cavaliers get Collin Sexton back for playoff run?

The Cleveland Cavaliers are on track to enter February and the upcoming NBA All-Star break as the league's most-positive surprise of the campaign and improved to 29-19 overall via Monday's 95-93 win over the New York Knicks. Things haven't been easy for the Cavaliers, as woes began in November when guard Collin Sexton went down with a torn meniscus that ultimately required him to undergo a reported season-ending procedure.

Per Chris Fedor of Cleveland.com, Sexton remains "far away from real basketball-related activities" at this stage of his recovery but isn't yet ruling anything out regarding his status for the springtime postseason tournament.

"When I’m feeling 100% and when my body tells me I’m ready," Sexton responded when asked about when he may return to action. "When my body tells me I’m at a good place and a good time that’s when I’m going to give it a go. I feel good physically as well as mentally. I’m excited to see what happens the next couple of months and see where it goes."

Sexton, who was averaging 16.0 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 2.1 assists per game at the time of his injury, added that "we will see" when asked if he could play in at least one playoff series.

"Definitely will see," he said.

For what it's worth, Fedor reports "multiple sources said the Cavs aren’t expecting Sexton to recover in time" even if Cleveland advances far in the playoffs. The Cavaliers enter Tuesday's NBA action fifth in the Eastern Conference standings but just one-and-a-half games back of the first-place Miami Heat.

With the Cavs consistently resetting expectations for their season, we wouldn't count Sexton out this winter.
